JOHN D. BRENNAN

40 YEARS-the abbreviated version...

Graduated Ripon College in 1969

Was a member or the elite fighting U.S. Army Finance Corps for 2 years having gone ROTC at Ripon. This included a tour of Southeast Asia.

Got married but 25 years later, divorced.

I have one daughter, Jill, who also graduated from MLHS and then went on to graduate from the University of Southern California, and 2 grandkids, Philip and Kelli. Philip has been very active in ice hockey and this year, his younger sister Kelli, also participated in this sport. Jill and her family live in the suburbs of Chicago.

Along the way, I picked up an MBA in accounting from FDU

I have worked for both large and small corporations mostly as their Chief Financial Officer, encompassing a variety of product lines including the following:

Water and sewer pipe
Commercial dinnerware
Paper patterns used in-home sewing (McCall's)
Metal processing and cellular test equipment

In 1992, I became involved in Agriculture. For the next eight years I was keeping track of how many eggs 3 million birds could produce. In 2000 I switched to potatoes, and now work for Agri-Empire a major grower and packer of fresh white and red potatoes. During this period of time, I have seen the impact that the American diet has on this industry. In the 1990s eggs were frowned upon due to their high cholesterol. Then when the low carb diet hit the scene, suddenly eggs were good, but potatoes were not. Who knows what's next!

But it's been interesting. I have gone from working on the East Coast, including several years with a nice Park Avenue work address and living in Mountain Lakes, to the West Coast, and acres of dirt. It's the one plus benefit of working with numbers. It doesn't matter what the product is, the fundamentals are always the same.
