Short recap...
Here is a short recap on the last 40 years!
I retired from Bethlehem Steel in 2002 after a 33-year career in sales and marketing. The last 15 years were spent as Vice President of three different large business units, each in excess of $1 Billion. Those assignments meant a lot of relocation - 10 to be exact, and that was a bit much for all of us. We are now happily settled (last 7 years and forever!) in Chadds Ford, PA which is a wonderful area. We are halfway between Longwood Gardens and Winterthur, so if anyone is ever visiting, please call.
For the last 3 ½ years, I have been a partner in a small investment banking group called Penn Capital. We specialize in helping small private business owners sell their companies. We deal with companies with sales from $5M to $25M and focus on manufacturing/distribution businesses in the Middle Atlantic region. It's been great fun for me.
Probably like most, our life revolved around our children and their many activities. Daughter Kim is 37 and graduated from Colgate in 1991 (also my alma mater). She is married, living in Bethlehem, PA; and teaches 1st grade in the Phillipsburg, NJ school system. She has three daughters ages 3, 7 and 10 who keep her and us very busy.
Son, Larry, Jr. (33) went to the Hill School and graduated from William and Mary in 1995. He was an outstanding athlete in swimming and water polo. He has moved through a number of business assignments and is now marketing manager for Mead Westvaco, a pharmaceutical packaging company. He lives in Jenkintown, PA with his wife, Susan and son age 1.
Son, Jeff (27) went to Moravian Academy and graduated from Davidson College in 1999. He was an outstanding high school soccer player. After a college injury, he wound up punting for the football team. He works for a private telephone information company called InfoNxx and is the General Manager of their call center operation in Manila, Philippines. He will be marrying a Philippine native, Marga, in June, 2006 so we have a couple of trips scheduled to that area next year.
With a little more leisure time, we spend time at our summer place in Keeseville, NY on Lake Champlain (across from Burlington, VT); world travel over the past 7 years to England, France, Switzerland, Philippines, Hong Kong, New Zealand, and a great family vacation to Scotland; and gardening which is my wife, Jackie's favorite past time. I still enjoy sports like tennis, paddle tennis, and golf.
I look forward to seeing everyone July 29 - 30.
