What has been happening in my life...
I really can't believe that we're celebrating our 40th reunion; I feel as though it should be our 20th!
I will bring you up-to-date on what has been happening in my life since '95. My daughter Jennifer graduated from Kalamazoo College with a degree in Economics in 1998. She went to work for the Allegan County News as a reporter and subsequently became editor of its sister publication in Saugatuck, Michigan, The Commercial Record. In 2001 she married a great guy she'd met while in college Chris Eritano and they moved to eastern Michigan. She is currently working for On-Star in the legal branch of their accounting department. No grandkids yet, but perhaps in the next couple of years.
My oldest son Alec graduated from Cody High School in 2001, was accepted at the University of Wyoming in their honors program, had a nice vacation skipping classes and not studying the entire first year, and has been spinning his wheels ever since! He lives with me, works as the night auditor of a local hotel, and has just decided to return to the University of Wyoming next January. Needless to say, I am very pleased!
Andrew, my youngest, graduated from Cody High School last year and since then he's been living with Jenn and Chris, though by the time you read this he'll have his own apartment in Detroit. He decided when he was 13 or 14 that he wanted to be a chef, and is working his way towards that goal. He begins cooking at a brand new restaurant there around June 1st and plans to go to one of the culinary schools sometime in the future. We have visited the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY many times so I think he's leaning towards attending it.
I worked at the Park County Historical Society Archives until late August, 1999 and then switched to my current job at the Buffalo Bill Historical Center in January 2000. I am the curatorial assistant of the Buffalo Bill Museum but did spend one year as the curator while we searched for a new one. We actually have 5 museums here plus a research library in a building that covers 7 acres. The other museums deal with western art, Plains Indians, natural history, and firearms. As you can surmise by the title, the Buffalo Bill Museum focuses on the man and his life, and is the oldest museum of the 5, having been founded in 1927.
As I mentioned in my '95 bio, my mother was moving to Kingston, NY shortly after our reunion.that summer. She spent 8 years there living near family before dying in late January, 2003 just 2 weeks shy of her 95 birthday. We had the memorial service at The Community Church.
I'm beginning to think about retirement and doing some traveling but that's still a few years away. While I really like it in Cody, I would like to be closer to family so perhaps by our 50th, I'll have moved back to the East.
Can't wait to see all of you!
