Short Bio...
After 35 years, I am still married to Kalthleen ("Kathie") Brown, who grew up in Schenectady, NY. We have two children, Lanethea and Tim, both of whom are married and living in their own homes (hooray!). Lanethea is married to Adrian Gardner (from New York State). They have a 2 ½ year old boy named Gabriel, and another on the way. Lanethea has a PhD. in Political Science from the Maxwell School at Syracuse University, and is now teaching at Muhlenberg College in Allentown, PA. Tim became a lawyer by accident (long story). He had wonderful long dreadlocks up through the end of his freshman year in law school, but cut them off so he wouldn't be followed so often by police and security folks at the mall. Tim is married to Catherine Krzyzanowski (of Haddonfield, NJ). They now live in Havertown, PA and are working on the next generation. Tim works at a securities class action law firm named Chimicles & Tikellis in Ardmore, PA.
For about 17 years I was a partner is a small general law practice in a rural community, where I handled all kinds of courtroom legal work, such as personal injury, matrimonial, collections, municipal court, real estate litigation, and many other things. During the first part of the 1980's I served as a part-time United States Magistrate Judge, presiding over minor criminal offenses that occurred on the military reservations at Fort Dix and McGuire Air Force Base. In the early 1990's I left my old law firm to join the firm where I now work, Blank Rome, LLP. Blank Rome has about 500 lawyers, is based in Philadelphia, and has offices from NYC (Chrysler Building) to Washington, DC (Watergate) and Boca Raton, FL. I am a very small fish in a very big pond at this point. I still focus on litigation, primarily complex business and commercial disputes in the federal and state courts throughout New Jersey.
Work can be boring. For fun, I like to sail. Kathie and I have a sailboat large enough to sleep on that we keep at Forked River, just off the Barnegat Bay. Between the third week of March and the first of November, we spend most weekends on the boat, either sailing directionless around the bay, or sometimes going out on the Atlantic. We have taken only one long trip so far, but a good one, over two weeks to Boston Harbor and back. That trip involved some overnight sailing on the open ocean, and some rough weather on the way home. We hope to be able to take the time from work to do it again soon.
