Short and sweet
I'm married to Debbie, who I met "way back when" in NYC and who turned out to be from Morristown, some 10 miles from Mt. Lakes!
Our daughter Megan is finishing college in Oregon. We hope she'll return east, although that part of the country is very appealing, with terrific scenery, lots of open space and friendly people.
After MLHS and college, I moved to New York City. I've worked nearly all the time since then for Citigroup, being based in New York although with a fair amount of travel, mostly overseas.
I probably wound up in NYC because my sister - MLHS '63 - was there. Always smarter than me, she gave up the craziness of the Big Apple years ago -- she and her family are in Pennsylvania. New York City has been a pretty different place to live compared with Mt. Lakes. It's been exciting - although after a number of years there, we and many others wind up not going to theater, museums, etc., more than we go.
Debbie and I divide our time between New York City and Hilton Head Island, SC.
I still work at Citigroup in New York, with the best guess being that I'll finish up in the next couple of years. At that point, we'll probably be in Hilton Head fulltime.
We like racquet sports, bicycling and kayaking, all of which fit in well in South Carolina, where I sometimes think we're the only ones who DON'T play golf!
I've done a bad job of keeping up with Mountain Lakers. Naturally enough, the two people I tend to see, rather than being '65-ers, are from the classes sandwiched around 1965 - Barton Jones and Steve Ernst. I occasionally run into Bill O'Brien from our class, as we do some work in the same industry.
One of the best parts of my jobs has been the overseas travel. There's been a fair amount of Europe, but in my case the main destination has been Asia, with about 30 trips to Hong Kong over the years. It's a city that seems to bustle as much as New York!
Our favorite family trip was to New Zealand about 6 years ago - "Lord of The Rings" scenery before we saw it on the screen! Lots and lots of fun hiking, with unbelievable views, fun people and no cares. We recommend it - although preferably if you have over two weeks that you can spend.
I've certainly got fond memories of Mt. Lakes, which of course seems pretty protective as I look back. Somehow, we survived without computers, cell phones and even cash machines! I think those simpler years are ones that our grandkids(!) won't have.
